Comfortable hydrostatic drive, practical cutting widths and equipment designed to make regular mowing easier.
Practical Lawn Tractors Built Around the Way You Mow
A good lawn tractor should make a large property easier to maintain, not more complicated.
STIGA’s ride-on mower range combines straightforward controls, comfortable driving positions and practical cutting systems with options for collecting, mulching or side-discharging grass.
That makes the range particularly well suited to larger residential lawns, lifestyle blocks and properties where mowing quality and ease of use matter.
The Estate range focuses strongly on collection, leaving a clean finish while carrying a generous volume of clippings.
The Tornado takes a different approach, using side discharge to deal efficiently with longer grass and larger open areas.
At STIHL SHOP Te Awamutu, we’ll help you choose based on the property rather than simply deck width.
Tell us what you’re mowing, how much grass you have and what kind of finish you’re looking for.
Four Reasons to Consider STIGA
Excellent Grass Collection
STIGA Estate tractors combine twin-blade cutting decks with large rear collectors, making them a strong choice where a clean, collected finish is important.
Smooth Hydrostatic Drive
Foot-operated hydrostatic transmission lets you adjust your speed progressively without manually changing gears.
Multiple Cutting Options
Depending on the model, you can collect, mulch or discharge clippings to suit the season and the way you manage your lawn.
Comfortable to Operate
Ergonomic controls, supportive seating and easy blade engagement make regular mowing more comfortable across larger properties.
Popular STIGA Ride-On Models
From compact catching tractors through to wider heavy-duty machines, these four STIGA models cover a broad range of residential and lifestyle-property mowing requirements.
The right mower depends on your lawn size, access, terrain, mowing frequency and whether you want to collect or discharge the grass.
Estate 598 W
A step up in power and mowing capacity, combining a wider twin-blade deck with a smooth twin-cylinder engine and generous catcher for larger lawns and lifestyle properties.
Estate 7122 W
The large-capacity Estate for bigger properties, combining a wide 122 cm cutting deck, powerful twin-cylinder engine and 300-litre collector to cover more ground between stops.
Tornado 5108 W
A strong option for larger, more open properties where efficient mowing and grass dispersal matter more than collection, with a wide deck and twin-cylinder power for heavier grass.

STIGA Ride-On Mowers: Common Questions
What customers commonly want to know when comparing STIGA lawn tractors.
What’s the difference between the Estate and Tornado ranges?
The biggest difference is how they deal with the grass.
STIGA Estate tractors are designed around rear collection, making them a strong option where you want clippings removed and a clean finish after mowing.
The Tornado 5108 W uses side discharge, making it better suited to larger open areas and grass that may be longer or less regularly maintained.
If presentation is the priority, start with an Estate.
If getting through larger areas efficiently matters more than collecting everything, the Tornado may make more sense.
Which STIGA Estate model should I choose?
Start with property size, access and how much mowing you have to get through.
The Estate 384 has a compact 84 cm deck and suits tighter properties where collection is important.
The Estate 598 W steps up to a 98 cm deck and twin-cylinder power for larger lawns.
For genuinely big mowing areas, the Estate 7122 W provides a much wider 122 cm deck and 300-litre collector, reducing the number of passes and emptying stops.
Is the Estate 384 suitable for a lifestyle block?
It can be a very good option for smaller lifestyle blocks and larger residential properties, particularly where gateways, gardens or tighter mowing areas make a compact machine useful.
For larger or more open properties, the wider Estate 598 W or Estate 7122 W may reduce mowing time.
Should I collect or side-discharge my grass?
That depends on the finish you want and how regularly you mow.
Catching gives a very tidy result and keeps clippings off the lawn, making the Estate models particularly appealing around homes and landscaped areas.
Side discharge is generally faster and works well across larger open areas, especially when there is more grass volume to deal with.
The Tornado 5108 W is the better fit where collection is less important.
What’s the advantage of a twin-cylinder engine?
Twin-cylinder engines generally provide smoother power delivery and are well suited to larger mowing workloads.
In this range, the Estate 598 W, Estate 7122 W and Tornado 5108 W all step up to twin-cylinder power for customers covering larger areas.
How big a deck should I choose?
Bigger isn’t automatically better.
Start with your narrowest gate, tightest mowing area and storage access before thinking about total land area.
An 84 cm deck is easier to get through compact spaces, while 98 cm, 108 cm and 122 cm decks become increasingly efficient as the property opens up.
We’ll help you work through the trade-off rather than simply recommend the widest machine.
Are STIGA lawn tractors easy to drive?
The featured models use foot-operated hydrostatic transmissions, so speed can be adjusted smoothly without manually changing gears.
That gives them a straightforward driving style that most customers find familiar and easy to get used to.
Can STIGA tractors mulch as well as collect?
The Estate models provide alternative cutting options in addition to collection, while the Tornado can be configured for side discharge or mulching depending on the machine setup.
Talk to us about how you normally manage your lawn and we’ll help configure the mower appropriately.
Can you service STIGA ride-on mowers locally?
Yes.
That’s one of the main reasons to buy through a local dealer.
Our Te Awamutu workshop can provide servicing, maintenance and repair support for suitable STIGA ride-on mowers, giving you local backup throughout the life of the machine.
Do you take ride-on mower trade-ins?
Talk to us about what you’re currently mowing with when you’re considering an upgrade.
We can assess your existing mower and discuss the options available when moving into a STIGA.
